Let’s Keep Lakes, Rivers and Oceans Water Clean

The widespread problem of water pollution is jeopardizing our health. The unsafe water kills more people each and every year than the wars and gun violence around the world. The numbers are very scaring. But we have the obligation to keep lakes, rivers and oceans water clean, for our own safe.

One of the ruge problems in water pollution are in the oceans contamination. Also called marine pollution. Originated on land, weather along the coast or far inland. Contamination from chemicals, nutrients, and heavy metals are carried from farms, factories and cities by streams and river into bays and estuaries.

The agriculture sector is one of the biggest global freshwater resources consumer. The farming and livestock production uses about 70 percent of the agriculture pollution in the top source of contamination in rivers and streams. The second biggest source in wetland, and the third main source is lakes.

If this stays the way it is today, how much long will be need to stagnate our clean water resources? Try to answer  that one. But I can guarantee, it won’t be many years from now.

Every time it rains fertilizers, pesticides, and animal waste from farms and livestock operations wash nutrients and pathogens, such bacteria and viruses into our waterways.

Ask yourself now. How can we keep lakes, rivers and oceans water clean?

More than 80 percent of the world’s wastewater flows back into to the environment without being treated or reuse. According to the United Nations, in some least developed countries, the figure tops 95%. That’s a ruge number.

In the United States, wastewater treatment facilities process about 34 billion gallons of wastewater per day. These facilities reduce the amount of pollutants such as pathogens, phosphorus, and nitrogens in sewage, as well as heavy metals and toxic chemicals in industrial waste. This is helping discharging the treated waters back into waterways.

Used water is wastewater. It comes from our sinks, showers, and toilets. Let’s think of sewage. From commercial, industrial and agriculture activities around the globe.

Even when you home cooking, you must be responsible and not waste too much of clean water.  Let’s keep lakes, rivers and oceans water clean.

Think metals, solvents, and toxic sludge. It also includes stormwater runoff which occurs when rainfall carries road salt, oil, grease, chemicals and debris from impermeable surfaces into our waterways. Think of big cities around the world.

One more question for you, would be, what is here you could do yourself, to keep lakes, rivers and oceans water clean?
